Now you can easily trace and claim your PF money from your old EPF accounts.
EPFO has started a online facility to trace all your unclaimed money from the inoperative PF account(s). According to EPFO officials around Rs 43,000 crore is lying in these “inoperative accounts”.
EPFO will pay 8.8% interest for these inoperative accounts.
WHAT IS AN INOPERATIVE ACCOUNT?
An inoperative EPF account is when there is no contribution for 36 months and without no withdrawal or transfer request.
Before tracing your inoperative EPF account, you need to know few things.
- You should know some basic details of your inactive EPFO Account(s) like your PF number, establishment code, Employer etc.
- You can search these details in your old salary slips mainly your EPF number.
- Even if you can’t find your EPF No., you can request your past employer to share the same. This information can be easily traceable.
Simple steps to find your Inoperative EPF Account
After finding your EPF details, you may follow below mentioned steps to withdraw or transfer that money. But remember, for each inoperative EPFO account you need to fill separate request form online.
Step 1: This facility is available at EPFO website Home Page -> Inoperative A/C Helpdesk (under services).
Step 2: On clicking this link, CPFC message will appear in the next screen. At the bottom of this screen, click on the “first time user Click here to proceed” button to register your case
Step 3: On the next screen, you need to provide the problem description and click ‘next’ button to proceed.
Step 7: Finally, click on ‘Generate PIN’ to receive a PIN on your mobile number. You need to enter this EPFO PIN to get the ‘Reference number’ on the screen. Kindly note down this reference number for future use.
How to trace the status of your Inoperative EPF request?
You can easily track the status of your request(s), based on the reference number from EPFO dashboard website.
Once your inoperative PF account is traced, you will get the details through a SMS. You can either withdraw the money (by submitting Form 9) or transfer your old EPF account to your current EPF account.
